NRVWWDA to implement several projects in Elgeyo Marakwet County

North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency to fund water works in Elgeyo Marakwet county

The county executive member for lands, water and climate change Abraham Barsosio recently hosted a delegation from North Rift Water Works Agency who paid a courtesy call to discuss water projects that are yet to be implemented in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The Agency is tasked to undertake the developmet, maintenance and management of water works within four counties in rift valley region.

According to Rachel Makhoha the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said that there are number of projects that the Agency has inherited from Rift Valley Water Works and Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agencies that they are looking towards implementation. “we are delighted to report that some water projects in this county have secured funds and are in final stages of procurement.” said Rachel.

She added that the Agency is going to procure consultant to work on feasibility studies and come up with designs for sewerage works for Iten and other towns in the county.

On his side, CECM Abraham Barsosio applauded the strides that the Agency since it came into existence.

He added that the County Government has done several other water works and conservation across the County and the coming of North Rift Water Works is a great boost.

“We as a County, we really appreciate your coming and we are looking towards working together for the betterment of our county” said Barsosio.

The Agency is mandated to provide technical support and capacity building of county government and water services providers.
