The Board of North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency has finally been inaugurated. The inauguration ceremony for the Board of the newly created Agency was presided over by the Chief Administrative Secretary Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Dr. Andrew Tuimur on 15th February , 2021 at the Agency’s headquarters in Eldoret town. The CAS was accompanied by The Water Secretary Eng. Samuel Alima, CECMs in charge of Water Affairs in Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, West Pokot and Tarkana Counties, among many other dignitaries.
Speaking during the event, the CAS congratulated the Chairman and his Board members for their appointment into the Board of the Agency. He said that their appointment manifests the confidence the Water sector has in them to steer the leadership of the new organization. The CAS reminded the Chairman and the Board members that the leadership of the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation had bestowed upon them an immense tasks and responsibility of ensuring increased access to water and Sanitation Services in the Agency’s coverage area and implored them to serve the Agency with utmost dedication and faithfulness to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in executing the mandate of the Agency.
The Board of Directors of the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency was appointed by Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Hon. Sicily Kariuki through a Kenya Gazette Notice No. 10185 under the Water Act No. 43 of 2016 on 1st December, 2020. Hon. David Chumba Chemweno was appointed the Chairman of the Agency for a period of three years, alongside the other Board members including Margaret C. Sang Kirui, Philomena Chenangat Loitarengan, Isaac Kipyego Maiyo and Christopher Epokot Ekuom.
